Disability Rights and Politics is a self-advocacy group who work in the borough of Brent. They are a part of Brent Mencap, a local Learning disability organisation. They support members to speak up for their rights on topics such as employment, housing, health, disability hate crime, transport and accessible information . The group was formed when cuts to services were made in 2010, as people with learning disabilities were affected and needed to speak up about the changes. They follow the social model of disability, self-advocacy is about looking at what we can do and how we can build up our skills and abilities to support each other.
