A beautiful film showing hand screen printing at a production scale.
+ Think about the techniques these highly skilled artisans use to print long lengths of fabric, how will you need to adapt your process when you print your final collections?
+ Notice how they work to print in repeat, resulting in a long length of fabric (15m) with a continuous design printed along it.
This is the screen printing process that happens daily in our factory in Harare. Layers of rainbow colours applied with skill and patience to build the distinctive Kudhinda designs from the colour mixing, by eye, to the final delicate touch-ups, this labour intensive process can take up to 6 hours to produce 15 meters of Kudhinda printed fabric.
The layering of colours on each screen by hand, cannot be achieved by any other print method.
It is uniquely – Kudhinda.
