As supervisors, our own supervisory experiences can influence how we supervise our students. Our experience of supervision may include having been supervised or supervising in academic settings but there may also be those who have experience in supervising and being supervised in professional practice situations. This session will draw together our experiences and explore how we can share the most effective practices to support our students holistically. There is not one way. Our approaches may also vary depending on what stage of the programme the student is in and the progress they are making or not. Can the different approaches be seen as developmental stages in the student’s growing identity as a researcher?
