Geetanjali Gangoli is Associate Professor in the Department of Sociology, Durham University. Previously, she has worked at the Centre for Gender and Violence Research, University of Bristol; at the London School of Economics and Political Science; and at the University of Delhi. She works in the field of gender based violence, and is particularly interested in looking at the intersecting roles of class, ethnicity, gender, sexuality and disability in terms of the perpetuation, the experience of and the prevention of gender based violence and abuse. She is concerned with the intersections between policy and practice.

Michaela Campbell is a PhD student at the University of Warwick’s Centre for Education Studies. She is a member of Revolution West Midlands which formed out of the Black Lives Matters (BLM) movement. Michaela has co-hosted public conferences, a mock funeral and silent protest which unpacked racism, privilege and stereotypes including black women. She has performed spoken word relating to the Windrush scandal, Anthony Walker’s 15-year anniversary and a personal essay on being dual heritage. Some of her writings have been published in the Independent Voices, FiLiA and Black Superwoman Chronicles. Michaela is a Project Lead at KairosWWT, a charity which supports women engaged in street-based prostitution, at risk of sexual exploitation and experiencing domestic abuse. She is an optimistic soul, advocate of women’s rights, gender equality and committed to dismantling systemic racism.

Dr Kerris Cooper is a Research Officer at the Centre for Analysis of Social Exclusion (CASE), London School of Economics. Kerris' research interests span across a number of areas of social policy including physical safety and security, which this work stems from. Her other research interests are in poverty and disadvantage, income and child development, and economic hardship among others.

Dr Polina Obolenskaya is a Research Fellow at the Centre for Analysis of Social Exclusion (CASE), London School of Economics. Polina’s research interests are in social and economic inequalities, childhood poverty and disadvantage and social policy and social change.

Kerris and Polina’s work on the risk of violence among Black women is part of their current project - 'Social policies and distributional outcomes in a changing Britain' (SPDO), funded by the Nuffield Foundation (http://sticerd.lse.ac.uk/case/_new/research/spdo/default.asp).

Rianna Raymond-Williams is a Writer, Researcher, and Social Entrepreneur from East London. She is the founder of Shine ALOUD UK, a social enterprise that uses creative media and peer-led training to empower young people and adults who work with young people to have healthier conversations about sexual and reproductive health. She also freelances as journalist for the likes of The Voice Newspaper, Black Ballad and The Independent and is a Sexual Health Advisor for the NHS. She is in the process of preparing to study for her PhD in 2021 where she will be exploring how young black women make sense of their sexual identity in the UK.
